Do the gift sets come from Germany?
Our products are composed of various steps of work and production. Our company is located in Leipzig, here we plan and organize the production of each seed bag and garden accessories to the point of sale.
We try to source as much seed as possible from Germany. However, this is not always possible. The origin of our seeds depends heavily on how the respective harvest year has gone and where the best growing conditions for the specific needs of the plants can be found. For example, some of our varieties come from the Netherlands (where rainfall is higher) or Italy (where there are more hours of sunshine).
However, all our seed varieties are tested, cleaned, and packed in Germany.
We are very happy that we have been working with several facilities for people with disabilities in Leipzig for several years. The employees of these workshops confection, sort and pack with much love and care each and every one of our seed sets, such as our Garden Vegetable Set, the Kitchen Herb Set or the Mini Garden Starter Set for children.
We are in close personal contact and active exchange with all workshops and will continue to work with these great partners in the future.
All products that you order here in our store are also packed and shipped directly by us in Leipzig.
Is the child seed easier to grow?
We have selected our children's seed varieties with special care. It was important to us that the cultivation of the plants is not too complicated and that we can convey this in an understandable way.
In general, we also recommend growing the children's seed varieties together with adults. We have written detailed, child-friendly growing instructions on the back of each seed bag so that kids can supervise and accompany the growing of their little plants from seed to full-grown plant together with adults.
In addition, on the back of each bag you'll find a difficulty rating to give you an idea of how easy or difficult it will be to grow each plant. You will also find this information in each product description of the children's seed articles here in the online store.
So there is the perfect plant for everyone, whether beginner, small junior gardeners or kids with green fingers!
What is the shelf life of the seeds in the gift sets?
With optimal storage (dry and room temperature), our seeds have no specific expiration date. However, over time, the germination rate will decrease somewhat.
However, you can still try to sow the seeds later than the - depending on the variety we recommend - two or four years. Only probably fewer plants will germinate.
We only use seeds that are seedfast, other manufacturers often offer F1 hybrid varieties, these usually lose their germination faster. All our seeds are untreated (unpickled) and are produced GMO-free.
Are the gift sets really packed by hand?
We are very proud that we have been working for many years with several facilities for people with disabilities in Leipzig - our company location.
